One of the portmanteau herbs, Rosehips should be given as a feed herb as part of a natural diet. It is enourmously high in vitamin C as well as a vast array of other vitamins and a high mineral content including, copper and cobalt.
It is a braod general tonic, good for rehabilitation after any stress, illness or injury, an immune system booster a circulatory herb especially benefitial to the bridge between the arterial and venous circulation which is one of the reasons it promotes strong, healthy hoof growth and is good for health of the lungs. For high performance horses of average size (450kg) feed 2 tablespoons (36g) of rosehips granuals twice daily. To enhance the benefits, this can be made into a tea and the whole lot added to dampen down the feed. One tablespoon (9g) once daily is sufficient for pleasure horses and small horses or ponies. Rosehips in extract form is often part of mixtures to treat a wide range of conditions including bleeders, laminitis and infections.
